Simple Harmonic Oscillators
Introduction
Simple harmonic oscillators are systems that undergo simple harmonic motion when displaced from their equilibrium position and then released. In this topic, students study two important examples of simple harmonic oscillators: mass-spring systems and simple pendulums. Understanding these systems allows students to predict how the period of oscillation depends on physical properties such as mass, spring constant and pendulum length.
