Scalars, Vectors
& Resultant Forces
Introduction
Scalars and vectors are fundamental concepts in Physics that describe different types of physical quantities. Scalars have magnitude only, whereas vectors have both magnitude and direction. A clear understanding of vectors is essential for analysing forces and motion throughout the AQA A Level Physics course.
In this topic, students learn to distinguish between scalar and vector quantities, resolve vectors into perpendicular components, calculate resultant vectors and apply these techniques to forces acting in equilibrium or motion.
AQA A Level Physics Specification: 3.2.3.1 Scalars and Vectors
