Particles & Antiparticles

Introduction

Particles and antiparticles are fundamental to our understanding of matter and the universe. Modern Physics shows that every particle has a corresponding antiparticle with the same mass but opposite charge and other quantum properties. The discovery of antiparticles provided important evidence for theories describing the behaviour of subatomic particles.

In this topic, students learn about the properties of particles and antiparticles, how particle-antiparticle pairs can be created, and what happens when particles and antiparticles meet. These ideas form an important foundation for the study of particle interactions and quantum phenomena later in the AQA A Level Physics course.

With Sarah's help my daughter managed to gain an A* in her Physics A Level exams (almost 100% on paper 2!) and was able to gain entry to UCL. We are so proud and cannot thank Sarah enough.

Sarah transformed my daughter's approach to Physics. Her examiner insight was invaluable for boosting her final GCSE grade from a 7 to a 9.
